Why Should I  Come to

pen  Bible Fellowship ?

For Your Spiritual Growth

Just as you don’t go to a gas station to get water pumped into your gas tank, neither should you go to church without getting the right benefit.

At Open Bible Fellowship we are directed by one goal:

”Everyone Spiritually Whole”

from Colossians 1:28.

This means we don’t aimlessly have church, rather, in everything we do, we purposely are seeking to help each person clearly come into all growth and maturity through the knowledge of God. We do this through specific studies and experiences. We are intentional with all of our church activities. We also seek then, to not just give head knowledge, but help each person to come into a transforming experience of growth in character and experience.

Therefore we offer particular studies and classes starting from the most basic Christian teachings and continue in offering many teachings and experiences which help each person grow in a positive and dynamic way.

OBF Is A Unique Church

Open Bible Fellowship is unique in many ways from a traditional church. It focuses on heart more than form. We are not so concerned with outward customs, rituals or mannerisms of people as we are in helping them discover a relationship with the living God through Jesus Christ.

While most churches take their form of operation from social ideas, we base our church government on what the scripture says; and this makes a great difference. Now, instead of church politicking and divisions, we have Spirit-filled and led Elders who lead the church by coming to consensus of agreement. See our biblical studies on this. This creates a mature, consistent leadership of peace, and a sense of God’s leading. This is a joy.

Rather than people randomly taking turns in church responsibilities, we try to place people who are lead and called by the Holy Spirit into their positions. We help each person find their place in the body of Christ. The Bible tells us Christ is to be the head of the church, but this can only be seen in a scriptural, Spirit-led church.

Dare To Believe

At Open Bible Fellowship we know that God has not ceased working just He did in the Bible. We therefore trust God’s teaching and promises in the Scriptures. He still does miracles, heals and is intimately involved and concerned about our lives. We know from personal experience and evidence that the Bible is real and true.

We are bold to believe what God says in the Bible and as a result experience the same things the New Testament church experienced. Since we hold the scriptures in high regard, we actually accept, rather than dismiss what it is saying and come into greater depths of teaching. As a result we are able to live out and experience the same things that people in the Bible experienced in trusting a living God.

Real Worship That is Scriptural

For too long in the church, worship has been dead and meaningless because people did not really believe or entrust their lives to God; but when you come to fully believe what God has shown us in the scriptures and entrust your life to God, your experiences and belief in God take on a very meaningful experience. This is not emotionalism, rather it is very meaningful when God becomes real.

Some people coming into our services might think it is different, because, we actually want to do what the Bible commands us to do like: raising our hands in worship, praising Him with instruments, giving shouts of joy, adoring God and kneeling, meditating on what He has done for us, allowing the Holy Spirit to speak into our lives and to the church. See our studies on worship.

For too long people have seen Christian worship as a funeral where people come to honor a dead man, so church is lifeless, dead and quiet. But when the dead man gets up and begins to move around, people get excited by what God has done and start praising him, some people think that is scary. We think it is FANTASTIC. WE HAVE A POWERFUL LIVING LORD WHO HAS RISEN FROM DEATH!!!

It is not unusual to see people at community games screaming and shouting over a game. So why are we told to be quite and lifeless in worshiping Jesus?  No, the church should be and is the most exciting place in the World!!! “The LORD is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise Him.” Ex. 15:2

Sermons

We see every Sermon as an opportunity to bring a specific, pointed, lesson to help in our over-all development and growth in the knowledge of the Lord. The messages are not just “Devotional” with a warm thought, but come with notes so you can build a resource of ideas and scriptures that have been shared. The Holy Spirit takes His Word and makes it alive to our day.

Our messages are also “prophetic” in that they are carefully prepared listening to the Holy Spirit to see what He would say to you and the church at this point in time. Therefore they are never “canned” but come with a power to be relevant to your life this week.

Friends

At Open Bible Fellowship we understand that the greatest foundational thing the Bible teaches is the love of God for us and one another, therefore a strong emphasis in our church is on love and fellowship. We make the opportunities in our scheduled ministry to develop friends through what we call our Fellowship Groups; they are small informal groups that meet at different times and places throughout the week. Sometimes people come for the excitement and powerful events, but we know if we are going to be truly balanced and truly spiritual we must love others.

“For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.” I John 4:20

Team

At Open Bible Fellowship we come to appreciate that we need one another and need to work together as a team to accomplish what God wants in His church. We believe there can and needs to be a unity and a love for one another. We therefore, “Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” Eph 4:3

Children and Youth

Here too, our approach is the same with the children. We come with an approach that it isn’t just facts we are getting into our children’s head’s but lessons of character and faith that gets into their experiences, lives and hearts. We do not take the approach of trying to entertain our Youth in order to sneak in a devotional, rather, we know for them, as for adults, their faith also is dynamic.

Beyond our own church experiences we also involve our Children and Youth in Regional Events which are truly spiritually powerful and fun. We have seen our young people wonderfully impacted in these events.

Open Bible Standard Churches

Open Bible Standard Churches are very spiritual and balanced. They offer good supervision without undue control. They are a special vessel which God is greatly going to use. They are extremely missions minded. OBSC are growing at a fast rate around the world.
