We seek to be a . . .
“New Testament Church”
Which means . . .
POWER- “You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.” Acts 1:8 We
are to have the power of God’s Holy Spirit in our lives today; it helps us to live
abundantly and share effectively the Good News of Jesus Christ.
ORDER- “I write so that you may know how one ought to conduct himself in the household
of God” I Tim.3:15. God shows us how the church is to operate by using gifted ministries
and Biblical government. This is a real blessing when properly functioning.
LOVE- “Love one another just as I have loved you.” John 15:12.
More than just services or names on a membership list, true Christianity is lived
out in caring relationships. A real church is a one which helps develop relationships
in a growing faith.
CHARACTER- “You shall know them by their fruits.” Matt. 7:20, Unless our lives take
on the character of Jesus Christ our faith is empty. Genuine love and integrity are
vital. We will not manipulate or intimidate. We must be “real” with one another and
ourselves in our faith, relationships and character.
BODY / TEAM MINISTRY- The true New Testament Church teaches everyone is to be part
of the Body or Team in ministry - not just the pastors. In Fact the leaders are
there to help all the members in becoming involved in ministry:
Ephesians 4:11 And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists,
and some as pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work
of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; 13 until we all attain to the
unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the
measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.
WORSHIP- “The true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth.” John
4:23. Worship is becoming alive in the church of Jesus. Lives that are entrusted
to the Lord soon take on a personal and joyful expression which is to be led by the
Holy Spirit and not constrained by form and tradition.
